BACKGROUND
Safer Pets is a mobile application that assists pet owners in identifying items that may be harmful to their pets. It features camera and text-based search tools, allowing users to either photograph or enter the name of an item to check its risk level for pets in a comprehensive database. Search results indicate whether the item is safe or dangerous. Additional functionality includes locating nearby veterinary clinics or hospitals and securely storing pet health records for quick access during visits.

PROCESS
USER RESEARCH:
I collaborated with my team to conduct user research and better understand the needs of our target audience. Participants expressed a desire for an application that avoids overwhelming them with excessive or unreliable information. As a result, the ideal solution would be an application that is trustworthy, informative, clear, and easy to use.
BRANDING:
User research revealed the brand needed to convey trust, clarity, and reliability—especially critical for a health and safety application. To reflect these qualities, the design incorporated a blue and green color palette, with blue evoking trust and green representing knowledge and nature. A minimalist approach to icons and layouts ensured a clean, simple aesthetic.
APPLICATION DESIGN:
The visual elements were carefully selected to align with the brand identity while meeting accessibility standards. Additionally, all UI components were designed for simplicity and clarity, structured within a five-column grid. This grid system ensured visual harmony and balanced compositions while maintaining engaging layouts.
PROTOTYPING:
The user flow begins with a loading screen, followed by a sign-up/login screen, and then progresses to the main dashboard. From the dashboard, users can either search for hazardous items directly or navigate to other sections via the top-left menu bar.
To maximize usability, the interface was designed with simplicity and familiarity in mind, minimizing the learning curve and allowing users to focus on their tasks effortlessly.
